Preso con amazon warehouse deal... un rischio? forse, prima volta preso un hdd ricondizionato. In ogni caso il suo lavoro lo fa e per 80 euro 4 tb sono tanti. Lentino rispetto a prodotti simili ma quanto basta per passare un po' di file senza dover attendere una nottata

È da molto tempo che l'ho acquistato e ad ora non ha dato nessun problema, è sempre veloce (lettura e scrittura 110mb/s), considerando che è riempito a metà e non dà nessun rallentamento, posso ritenermi più che soddisfatto.
Alla fine per 4TB senza alimentazione esterna è veramente top.

I use a Mac Pro computer. It has a 1TB SSD, and I back it up using Time Machine to an external 1TB HDD. Over the years I have filled the SSD, mainly with photos and videos, to the point where Time Machine didn’t really work.

A few weeks ago a decided to replace the HDD with a 4TB version of this device. The change didn’t go well, and I ended up with the new drive inaccessible. Reading the poor reviews (I know, I should have done that before buying), I concluded that my drive had failed and requested a replacement from Amazon. That was accepted and the replacement arrived next day, with instructions on how to return the original (giving me several weeks to do so).

I then thought, and decided that the failed device probably contained much information about my life. So I started looking, & discovered a lap top with an earlier version of the OS could “erase” the disk. To prove it I ran Time Machine, this time successfully. I also decided that I didn’t want to return the “failed” HDD.

As an exercise, I configured the two 4TB HDD as a single Raid 1 device (meaning that they should, all being well, have identical content). That exercise didn’t go well either, and I wondered if the devices were pulling too much power from the computer. It’s not something I do normally (mains connections are always in short supply), but I managed to find an external power adapter and use that to power the USB hub (which connects HDD’s to the computer).

From that point it all worked as advertised (so far) so I now have 2 HDD both containing identical copies of Time Machine files. Attached is a screenshot of the arrangement.

All I have to do now is to let Amazon know that was nothing wrong with original Seagate HDD, and I want to keep both, so please charge me for the replacement.

I don’t know why I had the initial problems (perhaps disconnecting before ejecting, easily done with an external drive), or why an older version of the OS could do what the newer one couldn’t. I don’t feel knowledgable enough accuse anybody of anything, but dead drives are not necessarily dead, and perhaps my experience might be of some use to others…

To Katherine Wade… I suggest you use Time Machine. It’s pretty solid and provides the opportunity to undo mistakes, recover lost files etc. I think it’s fairly intuitive, for what that is worth.

Leise, schnell und preiswert.

Ich habe mir die Platte für die Sicherung meiner Filme auf der STB gekauft. Die Platte wurde u ter Linux sofort erkannt, einfach einhängen, fertig. Dir Platte ist sehr leise, schnell und für mich auch sehr preiswert.

Produit acheté à plusieurs reprises ici, et jamais déçu. Les anciens sont toujours fonctionnels, mais plus assez de place dc à chaque nouvelle achat je prends un capacité supérieur car entre le temps le prix a baissé.
Léger et compact, une led de fonctionnement parfaitement visible, et un câble USB 3 solide et épais. Fonctionne parfaitement, et rapidement reconnu sous Win 10.
Acheté pour y mettre documents à sauvegardé importants, vidéos et photos.
Avec mon nouvel ordinateur avec SSD, USB 3 etc les transferts sont encore plus rapides, Soucieuses de sauver mes documents même si semble solide, une petite pochette on n'est jamais trop prudent
